No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

this could happen.

but this has been debated til people get sick of it.

i think the general consensus is, it would be beyond the productivity/profit factor of the farmer.

more urban legend than fact.

A farmer wouldn't do that... they could just buy a different field to kill off mushroom growth. Salting a field is retarted, I would know, my family owns a huge cow farm, sounds like an urban legend to me.

So it goes.

I can barely understand what you're saying...

Alot of farmers don't use regulated feed, hence why you find mushrooms =P

Tell your friends they're full of shit, why would a farmer salt a field? If they wanted to stop kids from shrooming, they'd shoot them, not ruin their field.

So it goes.

This is just another idiotic post.

Farmers place salt licks in fields for cattle to lick. Not for destroying mushrooms. Some people really need to read about what they are thinking about before posting such urban legend.

salting a field would destroy the crops growing there, if not the crops, then the grass that the cows were grazing on. If anything they'd only salt certain patches, like mjshroomer said
