Purple Ringers!
    #4241539 - 05/31/05 09:26 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Ok, this is the copelandia cyanceaus(spelled right?) anyways, im in sarasota florida. It rained from about 4 am-9 am really heavily. I hear purple ringers take from 12-36 hours to grow. well, say if i go shrooming at about 2-3 am, do you think they will be up, im not going for the fat caps, just any caps. i dont want tiny weak bullets tho. and since the closest field is a very popular field i wanna get there early. anyways, do you think t hey will be up? its been sunny out, and humid and somewhat cool all day long. temp mid 80s or so. somewhat humid. do you think theyll be up by then.

Nort exactly sure where your head is at bt there are no such mushrooms as p[urple ringers.

Copelandia cyanescens are referred to as blue meanies. and their spores and gills are black. not purple.

Blue ringers is a mushroom found in the pacific northwest which has a blue ring on the stem where the cap bursts open. And the gills on a blue ringer mushrooms are chocolate to chocolate-purple-brown, not black as in copelandia mushrooms.

Go to the Shroomery's ultivmate Shroom guide for species ID fo Copelandia species or go to http://www.mushroomjohn.com/copelandiacyanescens1.htm

yup

said rules can be read here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2263556

3. Do not ask if the current weather is "good for shrooms."
These threads are flat out annoying, and will be locked. This information can easily be found with a little bit of research.
As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 2-3 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, then *yes* it is possible that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.

locked.
