almost have my first 2 BRF cakes fully colonized.. what should i do with them?
    #4239640 - 05/31/05 01:05 PM (13 years, 26 days ago)

I have a 4oz jar and an 8oz jar of BRF cakes that are almost fully colonized with GoldenTeacher.
I was thinking of dunking and rolling the 4oz jar and using the 8oz jar for maybe spawning or casing. All my other jars have just been inoculated so i wont have any fully colonized jars for a while... so maybe spawning it would be best.

what do you guys recommend... and what specific TEK?

If you have some horse manure I would recommend spawning. With 2 jars you need about 3-5 pound of manure and a container that will give you a substrate depth of at least 2-3 inches.

Use the 50/50+ casing tek found here when fully colonized.

Spawn them to some PC-ed grains...

More substrate then...I'd case when done.

OR

Just use them both in a casing.

Cakes will give you crappy yields with that small amount of sub.

Yes, rye berries would work fine. The moisture content for rye berries is a little tricky though. I recommend using WBS. It's a lot easier to get the moisture content right and more forgiving.

Wild bird seed can be had at any grocery store or Wal-Mart for fairly cheap.

its the millet in there that you want right? oddly enough.. it would be easier for me to get individual grains (via ranbow foods) than a premix. no wal-mart type stores around here.. unless safeway has it

Millet is good, but try and get it from a feed store or pet store.
food grade millet is typically hulled, the husk is the part you want.
health food store millet didn't work at all for me :frown:
you do know you're gonna need a glove box or flo hood right?

edit*safeway brand WBS works fine.
