dessicant alternatives
    #423383 - 10/12/01 03:48 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

my cheetah is getting tired of having to wait 3 to 4 days for her little friends to dry in the dessicant chamber, and was wondering if the black shirt/work light drying tek (which is supposed to work in 24 hours?) is basically just as good?

any other decent but more speedy alternatives?

Yes, be certain to keep temps around 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) or lower, no hotter.

Is that really how long it takes to dry with dessicant? That sucks I just went out and bought a big bucket of damp-rid.

I would not have the heat up that high (100). I keep mine at 84 f +/-3. Depending on the size (water weight) of the shrooms, they are usually ready within 24 hours. I then move them into a desiccant chamber to keep. I use Epsom Salt as my desiccant. You must bake the Epsom Salt to get the water out first.
These are two foolproof, economical, and easy methods.

Of course, you could always use silica gel. Works fine and very cheap (it's in those little bags in clothes, etc.). I buy 3 bags for 25 cents. :)
