It's a Suillus, indicated by the obvious glandular dots on the stem and slimy cap.

First, what state are you in?
Try scratching the tubes and see if there is a color change or if they merely darken.
Are the tubes radially arranged?

Happy mushrooming!

The tubes are the spongy stuff under the cap instead of gills. If you pick the mushroom you will find that the tubes can easily be peeled from the underside of the cap and that they can be separated into individual tubes.

In general, any time you want to get an accurate ID for a mushroom you need to pick it and bring it home. There are almost always questions you didn't think of in the field and having the specimen in hand allows answers to many of them.

Happy mushrooming!

There is a pretty good key here:
http://www.bluewillowpages.com/mushroomexpert/suillus.html

When I tried to run down it, I had some trouble. It asks for the specific tree that the mushroom is associated with at some point within the key.
