Some kind of suillus (help id'ing)

a. Habitat : Pine forest, growing off soil with a bit of rank grass an leaves, solitarily. b. Gills : No gills, yellow sponge like under, porous (very fine pores) c. Cap Size : approx 4cm d. Stem Char. : white, fairly large fragile partial veil, purple under partial veil, yellow dots above partial veil, i dont think it was hollow e. Cap Char. : browny orangey id say (check pic), slippery, marginal veil, convex f. Sporeprint : not sure ... yellow i think g. Bruises : didnt check, maybe purple h. Scent : -

yep, looks like one to me, around here (Ohio) we call'em slippery jacks. usually don't see them until fall.

It's a Suillus, indicated by the obvious glandular dots on the stem and slimy cap.
First, what state are you in? Try scratching the tubes and see if there is a color change or if they merely darken. Are the tubes radially arranged?

The tubes are the spongy stuff under the cap instead of gills. If you pick the mushroom you will find that the tubes can easily be peeled from the underside of the cap and that they can be separated into individual tubes.
In general, any time you want to get an accurate ID for a mushroom you need to pick it and bring it home. There are almost always questions you didn't think of in the field and having the specimen in hand allows answers to many of them.

When I tried to run down it, I had some trouble. It asks for the specific tree that the mushroom is associated with at some point within the key.
