My New Dvd Burner
    #4230709 - 05/28/05 04:53 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

This is probably the best investment I've ever made. I just got it and 100 blank dvd's in the mail, and I've copied soem stuff already.

What makes the fact that I now own a burner ever better is:

-I also own a modded PS2. This means I can copy games, and then play them on my PS2. This is going to save me an unbelievable amount of money. I've copied 3 games already.

-Even better is the fact that I work at a movie rental place. Since I am an employee, I am allowed 3 movies or games of for free at a time. I am going to make good use of this employee perk.

I just wanted to share my good fortunes with you guys.

Do you usually keep the movie as is and copy it or do you remove the extras and then burn the movie at higher quality?

I was wondering if the movie still looked good at like 70% compression rate.

I've only encountered 3 problematic disks that dvdshrink couldnt copy but elaborate bytes clonedvd2 sorted that out

Can you just copy the movie part with DVDshrink? I thought you HAD to burn the whole disk?

You can cop just the movie part. That way, you can keep it at 100% quality.

Read the guides on the website, they're really helpful.

i usually remove all the languages and the extras if they're gay, leave the menus. you not really gonna notice a diffrence by removing <200-300mb in extras imo though.

Yeah, I just burned Ganges of NY (which is like over 2 hours), and I had to remove ll the foreign laguages and all the extras so I could fit the 2-disc movie on one disc with halfway decent quality.

CCE + DVDrebuilder its called. It rebuilds the dvd9 into a dvd5 and takes between 8-14 hours depending on how many passes you set it to. It creates the finest quality you can possibly get while still shrinking it. Its like a high high quality version of dvdshrink. The release groups who post dvd releases always use cce pass + rebuilder.

here's what i do

remove all the stupid languages (you can tell dvdshrink to do this automaticaly )

keep ALL the sub titles - no point in removing them (thank the dutch for bieng stupid and leaving only the dutch subs --boo)

leave the 'compression' on the main movie to auto, and then change the menu and extras to  "custom ratio" and slide the slider all the way down (lower %, to the LEFT) making the movie as much as possible while keeping the extras, extras a great (cept for some lame movies)

ALWAYS, AND I MEAN ALWAYS do a  'deep analysis'  before encoding. This will improve your dvd's so much, especialy with action movies. I first did saving private ryan without it, and it was fairly noticable, squares like in a divx movie, but smaller and clearer...

that's why dvddecrypter is good, copy dvd9 to hd, then take disc back to store (or send it back to netflix same day) and then start it encoding while you sleep with deep anakysis.

so why cant they leave the english subs then? there's two  things i cant stand in this world... people who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and the dutch. :mad2:
