Schappelle Corby, a young Aussie woman was given 20 years in an Indonesian prison for allegedly smuggling marijuana. Note that Australian penalties are also harsh so why the Australian outrage?
I guess they just don't like someone else doing it to one of theirs. This reminds me of families that beat the stuffing out of each other, but then band together when an outsider does the same.
Similar draconian sentencing elsewhere is not making the mainstream news. Now why is that? Because she is pretty? Because darker-skinned people are encarcerating whites?
Hopefully this case will get people talking and THINKING.

well if we assume that many, many australians have smoked weed and think its rather harmless so they probably think its quite ridiculous to sentence some1 to 20years in prison for somethin like that. and its not just australian outrage.. weed smokers all over the world pretty much agree that whats happening there is complete bullshit

Yes, but this type of sentence happens all the time. What is the distinctive point in this case that so garners attention?

In Alabama, the FIRST offense of trafficking only marijuana gets you 25 years to life.
The second offense has a mandatory minimum life sentence.

But of course we must accuse those darker-skinned folk of being barbarians, despite the fact that the U.S. is even worse in some parts.

Alaska = up to 25 plants and up to 4 ounces in your own home is no penalty.
That and oil money check every year from the state is something to consider...

Well she's saying she didn't do it. She's saying someone at the airport stuffed the weed into her surfboard bag without her knowing it.
If that's the case then it's a terrible injustice that she should be sentenced to 20 years.
If it is her weed I mean then she deserves a penalty because 9 lbs of weed is a very greedy glutinou$ amount of weed to have..

Yep, all 9 pounds of it. Pretty thorough frame job. 
If it were corrupt cops, I doubt it would have been 9 pounds.
For anyone else to have stuffed it in there would have meant her not watching her bag and them counting on her not looking into her bag. And, them counting on them not finding it in her bag. And, them counting on grabbing the bag from her after the flight and them counting on no one seeing it, or her not reporting them.
If it's too much counting, it probably doesn't add up!

Aparently Asian Australians get arrested and jailed for drugs all the time in Asia. If she wasn't white and pretty, no one would've known about this.
