Humidifier or bubbler???

Is there a big difference in using a humidifier setup next to a simple jar of water with a air pump??? Is a humidifier worth the money?

get a 4 dollar bag of perlite and use that. introduce a bubbler if you want more air exchange. perlite is much easier and just as effective

But unfortunately a hell of a lot messier and annoying to clean up than some evaporated water at the bottom of the terarrium

i just dump it in my backyard and rinse iut the tub with a hose or this winter ill just rinse it in the bathtub.

I have a background with frogs and toads and such, and I've had to maintain a lot stricter humidity than shrooms require. I think instead of buying a hudifier or whatever (there are some complicated rigs in some of the teks) you could probably just go to a pet store, buy a water pump (the cheapest one would probably do) and set up a waterfall on the drip shield. If that's not enough, sterilize some moss (buy the dried stuff in the same store) soak that with water, and stick that in the bottom. If there are no contamination problems with that, I think you keep the huidity right where you wanted it. There are also misting apparatus you can buy, you can set them on a timer like at the grocery store in the produce section. You could also make one with a water pump for cheap.

A humidifier is worth the money. You can automate your setup and completely manipulate your growth parameters, and you never need to open your grow chamber except when you harvest.

I say go for the perlite. It's cheap, expendable, easy to clean and maintain. When using casings I have found in my setup that I actually use very little perlite compared to the perlite tecs out there. just a thin layer around the perimeter of my container.
