This Year's Poppies (plant/opium pictures) * 1
    #4228876 - 05/28/05 02:35 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Alright guys it's been quite a while since I've posted and even been here to the Shroomery. I've been coming down off of a benzodiazepines (namely Valium) binge, and a month long drug binge that consisted of a cubensis trip every weekend, countless Valiums, opium, cannabis, alcohol, not only is this not responsible, but also stupid and dangerous. I do not condone a drug binge
of any kind, and I am currently totally sober and have been for 2 weeks.

I want to give those who are growing poppies or want to a big thumbs up, and good luck. These pictures will definitely make you encouraged to grow your best. I ended up with hundreds of pods, and lanced and smoked the opium from them. The taste of the smoke is awesome and the mix of cannabis w/ opium is quite nice.  I went back to get pictures finally and decided I would just dry some of these for seeds for people. These genetics are killer, as you can see in some of the photos there are 10+ pods on each plant. Enjoy.

2 plants w/ foliage.

Ball of raw opium and collection plate/tools.

Check out these roots!

Yup.

3 plants w/ 10+ pods per plant.

Up for the dry.

Free seeds will be given that's why I'm drying them. All I ask for is a 1$ for the stamp and envelopes as the last poppy seed giveaway was quite expensive. 30+ people. I'll give you the heads up when the seeds are ready, just PM if interested. Ill give about 1000 seeds to each person.

I'm back. And with a different mindset. Long live Ethnos!

MCE

Good to have you back in one piece after a month of Fear&Loathing  :smirk:

Wow, those are spectacular poppies! And that you're giving the seeds away in the tradition of Free Spore Rings... wow.
Hehehe we can tell its superior genetics! A peduncle with NINE tillers  And look at the size of those pods!

Please show these pics off in the stickied thread

Poppies - from Poppyseed to Opium

And please add your offer. The thread has reached epic proportions in the mean time!

I'm back. And with a different mindset. Long live Ethnos!

Sounds good man, really good!

Very nice, Myco. I've not succeeded with them despite a couple years of trying. I think my soil is just no good. Next time I'll grow them in pots and see how it goes. They grew for a while then one by one they died. Too hot here, I think.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Thanks for the big ups. The south has the perfect climate for poppy growing ive found. As for soil goes, these were hand sown into some Alabama Red Top Soil. Which is comprised mostly of clay/sand. There is less organic material in this soil, and also less loam. I have sowed into a richer more loamy organic soil and goten worse results. I'm sure poppies just like to naturally rough it.

where i live, the soil is very dusty, hard and dry, also a bit sandy. not much organic material either. does this sound like good soil for the poppy as long as i fertilize a little? what i mean is, do you think it would be a waste to buy good soil from the store for them?

I do belive it would, I think if you took a mixture of your topsoil w/ manure, bloodmeal/bonemeal. Then transplant poppies into bed, then mulch, that would make a very nice prepared bed.

we get snow in early dec, and its still snowing into april here.
ive planted in sept before and had shrub sized cabbages. but killed them before the winter by trying to move them.

would they survive that much snow and freezing?

if they could, i could grow some bigger than what youre showing. i would very much like to
