I recognize and understand the order to blow a hijacked airliner out of the sky if an attack is imminent. Don't get me wrong. But how Soviet of Bush not to give the pilots (or the passengers for that matter) the opportunity to take care of themselves first, before it gets out of hand.
Terrorists are like coyotes. They attack the weak. Unarmed people are as helpless as a newborn calf.

The pilots union should go on strike until they get their demands met, even if these "air marshalls" come on board. Private citizens shouldn't have their own fates determined by the federal government.

Well, the terrorists who hijacked those planes were training to be pilots... its not a hard profession to get into. As for allowing citizens to arm themselves, I bet there are a bunch of terrorists in the US with citizenships. That would just be insane to allow anyone who wanted guns on a plane. I think the "air marshalls" are a great idea, since there is now actually someone up there who has some sort of training and protection.

What happens when an unarmed person overpowers an armed "air marshall" or pilot and thus gets to hijack a plane?
