ANYONE KNOW A GOOD SOURCE FOR Pseudomonas fluorescens?
    #4225506 - 05/27/05 04:14 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

i'm looking for a pure culture, without having to take the time to isolate it from nature. some place that would mail it to my home would be nice, so i don't have to contact a professor and have him get it for me. its kinda crap they can't send you organisms that aren't hazardous from culture collections. a good low price would be nice. =)
any suggestions?

Try carolina biologicals, they have reasonable culture prices.

http://carolina.com/

Pseudomonas fluorescens

$7.75 per tube, not restricted.

I always wondered, what does a "restricted culture" mean?

It means that it is only sold to licensed institutions or people with the proper facilities and permits. It is generally for things that harmful in some way such as disease causing organisms or virulent pests that would/could cause havoc if released into the environment.

thanx bro! could have got it free from a culture collection in peoria, Il, but they don't ship to home addresses, only institutions. i can more than understand the restricted stuff because of the dangers asscoiated with them, but come on.... food spoilage, and nonhazardous fermentation organism type strains??! that is just silly.
what are they afraid of...that i'm going to terrorize people by sending them rotten apple?! some things are just overkill.

How did you find their culture library?

I can't find it anywhere, just that page you linked to: Neisseria ? Pseudomonas
