Human Mind vs. Human Body

Some here like to pretend that our mind is seperate from the body as if it it were some spiritual essence having nothing to do with our form.
Do you honestly believe that we would have created cities if we were water dwellers? Written great songs if we reproduced asexually? Authored deep manuscripts if we had no vocal cords? Developed technology without hands?

not sure what these thrusts and parrys have to do with each other:
I do agree that the electronic smear of mind/consciousness is dependent upon the form and function of the brain in body, but I don't see this correlation with the other "achievements".
structures like cities could definitely be built in water (the coral reef is a kind of city) and the other points also make you seem strangely mystical almost whimsical about the need for this exact form of man/woman, as if it were the essential god image.

Well of course Swami you are right. The body is a creation of the mind and so cannot be seperate. You nailed it again.

"Written great songs if we reproduced asexually?"
I never thought about it. And even now, the connection is not clear.

our creativity (as a whole) would've been channelled differently if we'd had different physical forms. How differently, I have never considered before

Yes, but it's ridiculous to describe the mind in terms of the body. That's like describing a program at the hardware level- it makes no sense.
Treating the mind and body separately is just keeping them on different levels of abstraction- which is perfectly fine for conceptual discussion. Yes, sometimes conflicts may appear, but those are probably resolvable at the fundamental level; I suspect it's just the inaccuracy of language which creates these conflicts.
How spirit fits into this is much, much harder to see.

your mind is in your brain, and your arm is not your brain, so brain is not the rest of your body, brain is just brain. In that way your mind is separate from your body, because you do not think with your legs, but your brain cells.

And as for songs, well depends if you think about love songs as good. They are all garbage to me, the first one was original, there rest of them are all the same

All I am saying is that our thoughts and creations are directly dependent upon our external form and relationship to our environment.

Nice how you put it morrowind.
Swami, I'm not sure where a "versus" or where it is you see oppositions in play here.
I just see a beneficial relationship between form and fluidity.
Morrow, coined it when he described it as being in the abstract/concepts realms of consciousness. In these realms there is so much stretch , flex and give. Its easy to see why many prefer them, I know I do.
The more I come into dense, limited structures regarding consciousness, I don't feel as good. I feel like I want to start busting and breaking things to smash my way out of the confinements.
Yet, when it's gets to loose, I like to pull it in to a manageable boundary.
There is a bonus to being able to easily access the abstract realms and that is "creative problem resolution".
I can't even recall how many group situations I have been in where there was a problem to deal with and everyone thought there was no way to push through it and gave up. I always find a way because I see it when I go into those realms of consciousness. I can see where I can make the physical world bend, flex and stretch and meet my wants and needs better.
The physical realm and its limitations give us forms and structures to experience ourselves within and the abstract realms provide the fluidity for the fixed forms and structures to change shape when we desire a change or something more or different.
The two go hand in hand and work together or they can work very well together when you get them working together. It's a powerful relationship to establish.
To see them as being one versus the other severs the benefits and strengths of that relationship.

yes they are dependent on our body, but: 1. no matter how connected, brain is still a brain and contains all of US, our memory, our thoughts, consciousness etc, the only thing your mind/brain needs is oxygene and food. It can exist in a dreamlike state without your arms or legs or any organ as long as it has fresh blood
2. It doesn't have to be like that always. The fact that we limit ourselfs in things like not taking a dump anytime anywhere when we get the need, proves that our mental circuits can control our behaviour with higher priority than biological functions.
