I must find where this man lives. Or another place that can cryogenically freeze my engine.

Dude that news company is kinda slow, ppl(racers) have been Cryogenically freezing pistons and other parts for years now. I don't see how it makes for better gas milage but it does make the parts stronger.

There should be a place close to you that does this DNKYD. Call a local speed shop if you have one they should be able to tell you where you can get this done at.

what parts would need to be frozen to increase gas mileage?

Well, cryoing doesn't just mean you take a part and throw it in to the liquid Nitrogen and cool it off a while. You have to heat the part up and then cool it off. You heat it up and all the atoms are more free to move around and join up like they're supposed to. When steel is heated the iron atoms will bond to 9 carbon atoms instead of the standard 7. The two extra will fall off when the temp is cooled down to ambient. You heat the steel up and then cool it down so that the carbon atoms are disperssed evenly throughout. Instead of having a big wad of carbons over here and over there you end up w/ a pretty eveen dispersion of atoms. This is temperring. It can get rid of roughly 80% of the misalignment and stress points at best. Add cryoing to the part and you can get 99.99% alignment. SO, now you've got a hot part w/ atoms that are all spread out and then you take it to the cryo freezer. When you freeze the part to -300F things get a little shady. Lots of voodoo going on. The skinny on this is that the molecules are still 7:1 (carbon:iron) but when they're very cold they wiggle less and take up less space. That means they can stack in very tightly. Any gaps or weird alignments are filled when the molecules are smaller. When you heat the part back up the gaps are completely filled and the molecular alignment is as dense and stress free as possible. BUT! You can't stop there. You have to heat the part back up to make sure everybody is happy and will stay where they're at. You heat it back up to ~400F and then let it cool off to ambient. This makes sure that things aren't TOO tight due to the cooling and it makes for a stronger bond b/t the molecules while they sit next to each other. This final heating stage is crucial to cryoing. If the part isn't heated back up almost all of the cryoing benefits may be lost.
Here is a site of some ppl that do it close to where i live. http://host58.ipowerweb.com/~deepfree/

Like I said biO I think this guy is full of shit, all cryo freezing does is remove stress points in a block or pistons or anything you get froze and make the part stronger, there for I don't see how this would make for better gas milage?

yeah, thats what I dont get. I can see how doing a car's rotors would increase their lifespan, but what would so dramatically increase MPG? Maybe I should ask the dude. here's this website: http://www.greatrazors.com/

Thanks man, I didn't actually write that i'm too lazy but one of my friends from www.memphisracingscene.com did. I was going to have my stock pistons cryoed but bought forged pistons with a lower compression ratio for nitrous instead. I use to be real big into racing but kinda fell out of the loop when i got around you bastards haha.

i think he means more along the lines of why hasn't the government or big gas companies sent out assasins to kill this guy because all of the money they can possibly lose with this knowledge.
anyways, i was planning on sending my motor to cryo treatment a while back, but i ended up changing my mind and buying some parts i really wanted instead. it was gonna cost around 500 bucks for the entire engine assembly treatment.

so what exactly would be the benefits of doing your engine? things just become more durable?

yeah, they become harder and less prone being torn apart by detonation. things like piston ring lands are most susceptible to bad tuning and detontation (ping). basically, your engine could handle more horsepower. almost the same as buying something like titanium parts..or forged parts.
in this guy's case, his honda probably has more even compression throughout his cylinders...more solid and balanced parts, better seals along valves. things like that. i'm no expert though.

Im still not understanding, how is freezing an engine going to improve gas getting used up less in your car? You're freezing the chemical movement in the metal, not the gasoline...
... And please dumb it down pretty hard for me, cars arent my thing
