ok here it goes, i have an opaqe tub for my aquarium, its demensions are ABOUT 1.5 feet high X 2 wide X 2.5 long and i cut a rectangle in the top and put a top layer of suran wrap and a botom layer on the oposite side and duct taped it compeltey sealing it, i taped cut socks around the rim and duct taped those, and cover the socks with a piece of duct tape and my lid has a piece of foam tape running asround the part that seals the rim, so this is a total seal, i have a cup inside witha air pump with tubing going int hrow a small hole and a bubbler stone in the cubp and this is constantly on, i have about 1.5 inches of perlite and it was soaked so i say about 1/4 inch of water on the bottom, i have 5 cakes inside and well the humidty is STAYING at 80% , the highest i EVER got it was like 88%, and the temp is at around 70-75, why cant i get higher humidity? i even tried spraying the sides HELLA and dtill no rise, img etting a double pump tomorrow so im gonna use 2 cups and have 2 pumps going, will that help?? someone pelase help me.... :D just-IN

From what I've read I believe you dont need any perlite if you are doing a casing...the casing layer should provide enough humidity for pinning

are u sure it is at 80 cuz alot of humidity gauges dont measure accuritly at high rh values. If there is lots of condensation o the sides of the tub the humity is perrty high, if not then maybe try turning off the air pump for longer periods of time, it could be that the air being pumped in is too dry.

id use the perlite anyways (with casings or not)... if you go this route, fanning will make the difference... youll see..
