a promise
    #4223626 - 05/26/05 05:34 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

To help all of you shroomers (or by the time ex-shroomers) in eternal questions of death and life, I promise right here, right now that if it is in any way possible, I shall contact you after my death in case I survive it.

If you never get a message in any way from oldwoodspecter telling you that I am dead and that I am still conscious and in existance it could be because of following reasons:

-there is no way to use electronic communications from the other world (which i doubt)
-I didn't know how to reach you becuase I don't know who you are
-I forgot
-others suggested that I don't because of some sicrecy "contract" or whatever
-I am trully non existant and gone for ever

So anyone who would like to really be contacted if it is possible, let me know, and I will try to remember

Chances are that by the time I die I will forget this. But knowing myself, if I survive, my first thought would be: "man if they (anyone) only knew", and then my memory might lead me to this moment and you people.

On the other hand, if what they say is true, there is no way I could forget it because of that "life review" they talk about.

So, who Is for it? It is free, for the sake of science and philosophy, and of course spirituality

You're welcome to come haunt my apartment if you want. I always wanted a ghost around the place. Just lay off the really loud stuff  late at night when I have to get up in the morning....

Eh, this has been done since the beginning of time including by two close (dead) friends of mine. Nobody who has died has ever conclusively contacted anyone alive.

Lots of people, including that funny-looking guy on TV, claim they can talk to the dead, but not one person ever has told me the secret message my two dead friends and I agreed on before their deaths.

The deaths occurred decades ago; I'm still waiting...

Houdini promissed his wife he'd do his best to get a message to her after he died; she never heard a thing either.

You better make a list...put on it.

"But knowing myself, if I survive, my first thought would be: "man if they (anyone) only knew", and then my memory might lead me to this moment and you people."

This statement speaks volumes...don't you think that anyone who survived death would think this and want to break the news? Do the logic.

ok, then anyoone who wishes it, give me something like a name and town where you live, that should be enough in combination with username from shroomery to indentify you.

edit: in fact, can you send me a scan of your credit card? It should contain all the information that I need for that contact

well yea, there are some reported cases where family gets contacted by phone, or similar way of communication.

While there are no proof for that, there certainly are reports of it

all I am saying is if I get the chance, I'll do it

well some friends of Leary said they got a message from him after death

Of course they said that. They can get away with it because it's impossible to show that they're lying or fooling themselves. Case in point, look at how many people in this very forum cling irrationally to the McKenna time-wave thing even though McKenna himself disowned it when his math was shown to be in error.

How about Houdini? If anyone could wiggle out of the straight-jacket of death it would be him. Why didn't he ever contact his wife? Why can't anyone (and believe me, I tried and tried before reaching my conclusion) give me the secret message?

everything houdiny ever did was an illusion, he is no more magical than you and me. Death is not an illusion, it is not set by him.

Death is not an illusion

Dam straight! That's why nobody ever comes back and why nobody can speak to the dead.

Nope, it's a resonable conclusion based on two decades and a fair amount of money spent on mystics in a good-faith effort to give this a go since two ardent True Believer friends of mine died.

In those two decades, I have heard not a peep.

why do you even bother with the mystics who collect money? And who said anyone can talk with the dead at all?
You are grouping a bunch of common human beliefs into one concept.

And besides, your logic is flawed. You can spend a million years trying and still you can not conclude that something does not exist.
There is no way of proving something does not exist.
Lack of evidence is not evidence. It is just lack of evidence.

Dood, I've been at this for 20 years. I tried the expensive ones, the cheap ones, the free ones, the ones that didn't claim any powers, the ones who promised me the world, the sober ones, the trippy ones, the South American ones, the Catholic ones, I've tried them all.

My inevitable conclusion: THEY ARE ALL FULL OF SHIT.
