cakes directly on perlite?
    #4222294 - 05/26/05 01:44 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I am on my first grow attempt right now using the pf tek and my jars have been incubating for 4 days and have nice mycelium growing on them. when they get to the fruiting stage i am going to use wet perlite for the humidity. I am wondering if the cakes should be set directly onto the wet perlite or if i should put them on top of the jar lids and put the lids on the perlite?

When I used to do perlite humidification, I would set them on their lids.

Up to you though, they would get pretty waterlogged IMO.

good luck and peace

i haven't had any adverse affects by putting them directly on the perlite.
good flushes for a pf cake, ime. between 4-6 grams/flush/cake dried. never more than 3 flushes though without cakes petering out. 1st flush that size, 2nd a little less and third a couple grams. just tossed after 3rd, until i started an outdoor bed. switching off to wbs spawned to h poo, hoping to increase flush size, # of flushes, and potency.

When my cakes start to blue a bit i remove the lid they sat on and place them directly on the perlite.
