lol I love when I saw the incredibles, centropy (the release group) put right before it, that one guy who says he is a worker on the set and that downloading movies from the internet is still privacy and all that shit, I just laugh.

Stealing is wrong. But downloading isn?t stealing. If I shoplift an album from my local record store, no one else can buy it. But when I download a song, no one loses it and another person gets it. There?s no ethical problem.

Exactly. Stealing is wrong but downloading stuff that is out on the web, it's a victimless crime, IMHO.

I work at a video store, and get to hear that commercial play over 20 times a day. It's really irritating.

Downloading is absolutely stealing. But everyone wants something for free and now we all have a chance to get it. And no amount of warnings and stupid ass commercials are going to stop it. The industry needs to suck it up and realize it. I'm a thief, you're all thiefs. Don't deny it.

I'd have to say charging $12 to see a movie, $5 for a big bag of popcorn, and $4 for a pop is stealing, thats just me though...

They might have hit that site but there are a shit load of others. The day they hit Napster and shut it down a couple years back was the biggest mistake they could have ever made. After Napster everything exploded. Now we have the Gnutella network that is still running really smooth and that's what I personally use. More recently we now have torrents. There are a ton of torrent f.s. programs, Gnutella network f.s. programs, many private server f.s. programs, Direct Connect f.s. program with hundreds maybe thousands of private networks, and many hundreds or thousands of websites. When one site goes down 10 more pop up.

They can't fucking stop the movement. They have been trying to stop the filesharing movemement for years now. Now that everybody is upgrading to high speed internet is basically impossible for the cocksuckers. :cool:

Kick back relax and continue on with the movement. They couldn't stop us from pirating software and they can't stop us now. :flipthebird:

Actually this could make it very easy for them to take down a significant portion of the movement.

Think about how centralized most of the broadband ISPs are... Gone are the days of the "ma and pop" ISP, when anyone could rent a T line and start giving out dial-up net access. Now we have a bare handful of companies who completely DOMINATE the broadband market (mostly the companies who already had the infrastructure set up: the telcos and cable companies).

If they get through to just a couple of these media-conglomerates....well could you imagine if BellSouth "decided" to start actively blocking file-sharing, or even worse agreed to monitor their customer's usage to hand over to the feds?

It could happen. In fact I think we're lucky it hasn't already happened.

Very true I wasn't thinking about that side of the coin. Ok. You just gave me another aspect to ponder on. Ill get back to you on that. :confused: However I do know that ISP's have always been very good about customer privacy and respect. I can't see them rolling over any time soon. This shit has been going on for years and they haven't rolled. If bellsouth ever rolled Time Warner and AOL broadband would pick up a lot of new customers that for sure and vice versa.

It's got to be against our privacy rights to monitor without reasonable cause. All in all there is more to it. The feds just can't monitor our every move or they probably would be. File Sharing is used for legitimate purposes so the ISP's couldnt just block File Sharing. It is more complicated then you made it seem. I just don't have any hard facts at the moment. :shrug:

I know Shaw Cable has already started limiting the speed at which torrent files can be downloaded at.  I've given up using torrents now due to it. 

One day, it could happen to all of you too.  :shake:

Thats fucking ridiculous you are paying for a system that is limiting your download speeds. They have no right. How do they know what you are downloading is breaking a copyright?????? That doesn't seem feasable to me. If my downloads ever get slowed down by the ISP I will be :mad2:.
