Air Exchange with Ramsey Vermiculite Seal
    #4218988 - 05/25/05 05:34 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Im using the technique with a 1/2 inch tinfoil pool on top followed by the vermiculite. Im concerned that there will be too little air exchange though beause it seems the only hole that will be going into the substrate is the one caused by my needle.

I have one small hole in the center of my jar.

Thanks for the help - Justin

There should be 4 holes for the PF Tek.

I wasn't refering to the hole in the jar top. I was talking about the lack of holes in foils.

I would forget about the Ramsey. I tried it and also felt the same way about the air exchange. Just do the dry verm layer and tyvek, that's it

Oh no -now I see all the "waste of time" posts about this method!
what should be done if the process has already been completed?

Take out mix
Add water till water content feels right (squeezeing it should give u droplets of water....if it streams...its too much)

Then reload into jars and pc again...

Or throw away (wasteful)

Or just re pc them.....but you might end up cooking the rice a bit...

I think you might want to just go with it.

well I already shot them up......only did a small batch so I'll use this as a learning experience but I don't want to throw them away. Is there someway I can increase their chances of surviving? Or is this all just a time issue....cause if it is I can wait.
