I would think that if you did manage to get some spores, they would have to sit in a syringe for at least 48 hours or so to hydrate again.

no

you could try and start some on some agar...

that would be your best bet...but expect failures.

thanks guys, if so, that it would not be likely of the spores to germinate, than how is it that i recently had a 6 month old spore print of z on tinfoil, and successfully colinized 6 out of 10 jars, would those too not be dried out? .........

i would have just assumed that a cap would shelter the spores as good if not better than a spore print on tinfoil

a spore print properly harvested and preserved can last for years a dried mushroom likely has dropped the majority of its spores plus the problem is not the amounts of spores but removing the spores without getting any cotams

now your assuming things!~

---

the shroom was dried probably in open air.

so there would be a greater chance of getting contams than there would be with a spore print.
a spore print can last for many many years if stored properly!~

I told you that growing it out on agar would be your best bet.
and using anti-bacterial agar would be the route to go.

but...you still could have failures.

i'd flush out the caps w/ water and suck up the solution. there probably are still spores in there. the only problem is that there is also bacteria and other crap in the dried caps too. this means that you would need to do some agar work...probably alot of agar work and probably alot of dissappointment.
