New Plant Pics!
    #4218356 - 05/25/05 02:20 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Thought I would share some pics of some new members of the family.
Here's two Datura Metel:They are supposed to flower purple and are going into the ground very soon.
This is a shot of a P.Viridis, a HBWR, a Mimosa Hostilis, and some Petunia Violacea. Also in the back are a couple Coleus and a purple Basil.
Here's a closeup of the Viridisone of several that came from leaf cuttings.
Here is one of several Hostilis seedlingsThis one is doing well, but they are definitely sensitive and some of my seedlings aren't doing so hot.
And while we are at it here's a couple Salvia plants doing fine without a humidity tent.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share these pics. I'll post more once some of this stuff goes outdoors for the summer.  Peace, y'all! :sun:

Beautiful plants man, congratulations on such a succesful indoor garden! One of these days i'll have a digi-cam to show off my plants (that i haven't seen for 3-4 days now, they're at a friends house because i have nowhere to live). I'm quite envious of those datura, i've been trying to germinate seeds for 2 months now, and i've also been looking for cuttings. Again...what beautiful plants you have! hehe

Yes, beautiful specimens indeed! :sun:

I also have some MH seedlings, roughly a week old, certainly not as big as yours.

Thanks! esin - Try not to let the Hostilis seedlings dry out at that young stage, that seemed to be a detriment to several of mine. I'm wondering when I should transplant mine to larger pots. Anyone out there with Hostilis plants older than a few months?
LiveByFreedom - Patience on the Datura, these took at least 6 weeks to germinate, maybe longer. :peace:

Okay, how is everybody? Here is an update on my garden. Here's the mimosa hostilis (the only one that survived this far)
And the datura metel has flowered! This is my first time growing datura, and it has been so exciting. No other flower has so intoxicated me without me ingesting it. Anyway, here is a progression of pics:Neat, huh?
Also thought I would include this yellow plumed celosia, one of my fave plants. Not an ethno, but real beautiful.
Peace and love!

More pics! This is the Metel that I planted in the ground near the garden.   It was supposed to be the centerpiece of a small plot, but nothing else got planted. Yet. I think I'm gonna plant a bunch of poppies there in late fall (if that's the right time?).

Okay, more pictures, this time of my tomatoes. This is just one of three patches, one which I planted the earliest. There is also some basil in there, some pepper plants, a lemon balm, and a lot of weeds. Here is a zinnia
Thanks for the comment, JCoke. :peace:

Thanks! I got the MH seeds as a freebie when I placed an order with Shaman'sPalace.com. They have great products, highly recommended. Here is an updated picture of the Hostilis, not a great shot but shows the size well. It is growing like a tree! And unfortunately I'm having some leaf drop on the lower branches. It alternates between inside and outside depending on the weather, and has been fertilized just a little bit. Anybody got any advice? I've never grown a tree before, so I want her to have long, healthy life.
Here's my healthiest Psychotria Viridis plant. They are all growing slowly, but this one has the greenest, healthiest growth, maybe cuz it's in an evaporation tray? I just moved one Viridis outside into the partial shade to see if that's a good location. And I have one in my orchid terrarium. Which is whole other issue, cuz I get great vegetative growth in dendrobiums, but I have yet to get them to flower. I get lots of new sprouts, but no flower stalks. :frown:
Well, here is my pot-bound Datura Metel after flowering. I presume these are seed pods?
Here is my HBWR plant outside on the covered porch. It is growing real well, but a few leaves have been attacked by insects. I don't ever spray any of my plants with pesticide, so I guess it doesn't bother me enough to resort to spraying. Next to it is a lemon verbena, I love the smell of lemon!
Last but not least is this beautiful pink celosia.
Thanks for looking and letting me share my gardens with y'all. Peace and Love!

Very nice. I too love SP and all his products....I swear by him. Except I dont believe that these are true M. Hostilis. I have a post below this one of my Mimosa grown from his seeds.....its a bit bushie than yers and about 16 inches tall.

I know he would never consider selling them if he didnt absolutely believe they were indeed M. Hostilis. I have emailed him and am currently waiting for a reply.

What turns me off about these seeds is that they look almost exactly like desmanthus Ill...only darker. Also the leaves are touch sensitive, and I am sure they are not Mimosa Pudica. Maybe M. Hostilis leaves are though...i dont know.

Id love to hear your input on this.
