What  music, band, lyrics, album, song, ect. has influenced your spiritual/philosophical path? Or speaks to you about your path and confirms it? Or challenges you? Or says something better than you can? Or gets your life energy flowing? Or consoles you. :jammingout: :drumming: :headbanger: :bananamusic: :crymeariver: :jamming: :heartpump: :mushroom2:

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album by Genesis, is one of my all time favorites. The whole album is a story of this kid named Rael and his quest to understand his life. An incredable musical story that rings so fucking true. :mushroom2:

Shpongle - Though they use a lot a samples, what they create is both insipiring and frustrating as hell.  I just began making electronic music and I'm still dumbfounded by some of the stuff they do.

Ozric Tentacles - Same thing.  They create some of the most mind expanding music I've ever heard.  They seem to be able to fill in the blanks while playing.  Its hard to explain, but they do.

Tool - Obvious reasons

Porcupine Tree - They just make damn good music, plain and simple.

RX Bandits (and side projects) - Not only do I really relate to alot of their lyrics and music... I have a deep connection with their "vibe"... people often tell me I remind them of their singer, and they often remind me of the way I am. Most intense live performance I have seen.

Shpongle - I have had some deep moments inspired by them.

Wassabi Collective (Gisto and Friends - a side project) - Based in my hometown. Such beautiful, positive, amazing people. Such beautiful, positive, amazing, and talented music. So inspiring.

Arjun and Guardians - Says things the way I think 'em.

Ani Difranco - Represents the power of a woman so beautifully, very moving person and music in my opinion.

Beatles - The first music (excluding kids singers) that I really got into, around the age of 4 or 5, been with me since.

secret chiefs 3 - music of the gods. amazing!
the mars volta - completely self-indulgent, pychedelic rock that takes the soul for a ride. i got into these guys at the same time i really began discovering myself, the ties are so strong.
kyuss - they taught me to play guitar, my first real introduction to a love for music.
acid mothers temple and the melting paraiso UFO - did these guys find a way to convert hallucinations into audible sound?

I have always listened to heavy music during my youth and early 20's. I still listen to Pantera, Sepultura, Soulfly, Megadeth, Metallica, AIC, RATM, Korn, Coal Chamber and many others.
Anyway, a couple of years ago i began listening to trance music and i found it perfect for expressing my psychedelic mind :zoom:, go figure ...

Almost all music I listen to speaks to me spiritually, as far as the actual MUSIC is concerned...

However, Incubus' lyrics have always danced right around subjects of deep contemplation on trips...

Shinedown's "Simple Man" is both incredibly beautiful and lyrically confirming.

Third Eye Blind's "Burning Man"

Finger Eleven's "Awake & Dreaming" and "Glimpse"

Various 311 songs...

Swami you're old enough to be aware of Coltrane! A Love Supreme!

I'm glad though the Supremes speak of your spiritual values. That really rocks.

Lest I forget. The DOORS. They helped me explore the dark side of things. Jim had a jaundiced eye, He could see through many veils. To know light you need to know dark. "Break on through to the other side."

Favorite album is, Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine. Favorite songs are almost all of them, but check out the lyrics on Shaman's Blues and Cermony of the Lizard.

Also American Prayer album, which is his spoken poetry put to music. The music reminds me of Santana and is unlike any other music on their LPs. The poem American Prayer would speak to many here. :darkside: :darkside: :darkside: :darkside: :sun: :mushroom2:

I was never into the Doors, (way before my time) but I recently saw the movie starring Val Kilmer as Jim... I really enjoyed the movie, and it even sparked an interest in their music.

I may just have to track down American Prayer...

Coltrane "A Love Supreme"

I am old enough to actually have that album! Vinyl rocks.

Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Hendrix and a variety of other rock, jazz, blues, and classical.

For some reason A Love Supreme, and Kind of Blue by Miles Davis go hand and hand in my mind. Have you ever checked it out?

Kind of Blue, got it on vinyl.

How about Bitches Brew? I have it, have you heard of it?

P.S. later Miles mostly sucked, including Bitches Brew, but the album cover was great

OK I just thought of another very tripped out song by Procol Harum. Has anyone ever heard " In held 'twas I ?"  It's 17 minutes long and if the lyrics didn't come from a major psychedelic experience, well, well, then I'm fucked.

Nope I never heard of it.  Ya got me.  :frown:

But I did groove to Inna God A Divita by Iron Butterfly which was a classic long song and they may have been tripping.  Hell, everyone was buzzed in those days.  :mushroom2:

Ever heard of Ultimate Spinach?  I think they were doing a full window pane each.

OK heres another one. The band Spirit. Album, The twelve dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. This is some of the coolest and strangest shit to come out of the 70s IMO. Believe it or not they are still putting out some decent music.  :mushroom2:
