I choose Dali Tribute
    #4217575 - 05/25/05 08:31 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I want to start rendering again, there are two images that I started a relatively long time ago (couple of years) and would like to continue working on.
Here are WIP (Work In Progress) renders of them:

Please click the thumbnails for full sieze before you comment

Here I was going for a Dali-esque image, I also have the melted clock ready for insertion in the image. Most of the image is still untextured.

The Mourning

This is an image of a guy looking at a grave. The head needs a lot of improvement and so does the scene.

For complete images I made look in my gallery

So which image has more going for it?

the landscape on the first one already looks very cool. Why not be creatice and think of some things on your own to put in that image in stead of copying dali?

the second one seems more difficult because it's supposed to look more 'real' but it also has potential

I don't want to copy Dali, more like a tribute. If you notice the guy, his shadow is that of a skeleton, I dont think I got that from Dali.
Also I'll make some creatures with the long stick like legs in the background.

The mourning guy should also have a single tear rolling down his face. The face can easily be made more realistic by using a higher poly count model from Poser, and getting a skinlike texture. Now it's only a skin like color.
I also need to change the lighting in the image so you can see his shadow falling over the grave.

hey man, I was lookin at your gallery and I see you've done quite a bit with bryce.  I recommend you move up to 3D Studio MAX.  PM me for info on how to get it.  I can link you to good resource sites and give you basic tips so you can avoid making the big mistakes most beginners make (mistakes I made too when I started).

g'day

I just want to do some rendering. I dont wanna learn an entire CAD program again. Especially one with such a long learning curve as 3DSMax.
Do you have a gallery or something?

3dsmax isnt a cad program, it's an art program, like bryce

it's not as hard as it looks...  if you can use photoshop, you can use 3dsmax

my portfolio is at www.monkeyknifefights.com

It is also a CAD (computer-aided design) program

I did a little work on the Dali tribute image, more fun to be had there.

The anti-aliasing didn't finish completely because Bryce kept crashing. Need to get the updated version or reinstall..

anyone notice the detail of the puddle at the right top? Hint: It is modelled on a large landmass.
