first time casing
    #421576 - 10/11/01 02:57 AM (17 years, 12 days ago)

hello, i've grown two full batches total. and this being my third I have decided to case.

now i've done everything according to this tec:
http://www.mycotopia.net/teks/hongus.html

up until the point where the mycelum is supposed to fully colonize the container with a layer of wet vermiculite. What's going on for me is that the white fuz has only appeared in certain spots in the case. what do i do? it's in the perfect climate with no light.

take some vermiculite and put it on top of the fuzzy patches until the rest of it has a chance to catch up and starts getting fuzzy evenly all over

it was only a few days before the surface was prominantly breached. it's been not quite a week yet, and i don't want to start pinning until the surface is evenly coated. it's looking like this may take a short while...

also even in pitch darkness (except when i check on them) it seems to have already sprouted three small rebel 'headless mushrooms' that are growing-up really thin and getting taller.

Casings usually take about 2 weeks from start to pins.

my first casing had overlay in like 3 days. scratched and it was back again next day. i eventually stabilized its growth and it has now been 17 days since casing, just cold shocked yesterday, hoping for pins before this weekend. sounds like youre doing alright.

ummmm, uh.....

well the case is still the same as it was :(

i don't know that the white fuzzy stuff will actually ever take over the entire top layer of my caseing... any suggestions? is it too dry or what might be going on?
