"Ryeflakes"
    #4214007 - 05/24/05 12:03 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

Hello again fellow experimenters.

I was late to my local health food store, so I had to go to the grocery instead. I was planning to run a new batch and this time using rye since the colonization time is faster and contains more nutes for the fruits. Right?
But I couldn't find any rye berries, so I bought rye flakes. Like corn flakes but made of whole rye berries instead of corn...
So I was wondering if anyone used rye in this form before? Or am I the experimenter here?
I'm planning to use them as one would use BRF. Mix with verm and water and then PC. Any ideas??? Or should I stop wasting my time and wait til tomorrow?

/Dr.

I won't soak it. I will use flakes instead of BRF.

Might work, might not.

Will let you know either way.

I tried using these rye flakes too, i bought them as "rolled rye" or something like that. It turned into a big mess and i didnt soak at all. Also nothing germinated at all, that could have been due however to a spore syringe going bad. Also, the cheerios i eat only have one gram of sugar per serving, you just have to get the plain ones. I accidentally bought the other kind once and it had over 20 grams of sugar, no wonder over half of all americans are overweight/obese, the sugar!!

if it is whole grain, and doesn't have a bunch of additives, there is no reason it shouldn't work.(check the label)
grind it up in a blender, and fallow the pf tek.
good luck

the flakes I got says organic, biodynamic, no additives. just locally grown rye.
I will try it today in a small batch.

biodynamic.
polyfill is often labeled 'biodynamic" when its
sold as fish filter.
i beleve this means that it will support bacterial growth (in reference to the fish filters).

i think its safe to assume in this case "biodynamic" means it will grow fungus, mold and bacteria if improperly kept.
