Dead Can Dance, Anyone?
    #4212821 - 05/24/05 02:39 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Anyone ever listen to Dead Can Dance while tripping? I mean it's not music you would want to listen to on an ordinary day but it really takes you places while tripping. Especially when meditating during the trip.

Not at all, I love them, we're all a bit weird. Weird is good. I listen to them without enhancements too, they make me high when fully grounded. Nice to kick back, relax and enjoy the glorious instruments and tranquil voices.

I just read the post you listed...WOW, I didn't realize so many people even knew who they were. I've been listening to them for like 6-7 years and never get tired of them. I love all their music. Like minds enjoy beautiful music. That's Awesome!  :dancing:

"Spiritchaser" is amazing..
I can listen to that album over and over again without tiring of it.
It contains magic.

Yes, Spiritchaser has to be my all time favorite followed closely by Into The Labyrinth. It definitely contains magic, sorta puts you into a long lasting trance-like state. It's essence lingers long after it's done playing.

I like. I like.

That album enables me to reach levels of consciousness without the substances. I can't remember If I have listened to that album specifically while under the influence of the psychedelic nature.

But I like. I like.

--------------------
A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

Dead Can Dance 2005 World Tour!

:frown: :frown: :frown:

Unfortunately, there's more to the world than Europe and the US. Wish they'd tour Australia...

In case anyone cares, I actually prefer their older stuff more, especially Speen and Ideal.

That being said Lisa Gerrard's albums (The Mirror Pool, Duality) are awesome. She's also done a lot of soundtrack stuff recently (most well known would be  Gladiator), and is giving a talk on that sort of stuff at the Sydney Opera House soonish.

Have all the CD's (Brendan Perry's solo one as well) but would like to hear the bootleg, so I can at least pretend I was there...

Dead Can Dance is some of the best-composed modern music you could listen to. New Age, Darkwave, Folk, Chamber, World... they defy categorization.

I hadn't heard they'd gotten back together though; that's amazing.

If you've never heard Dead Can Dance, their live album 'Toward the Within' will probably blow you away. Presuming, of course, that you're open to less-traditional world music.

Ironically enough, they're from Australia. Well, Brendan Perry is, and I believe they met/formed there as well. Erm. I think. Don't really recall at the moment... but yeah. Their music will be cherished even a hundred years from now, guaranteed.

I absolutely love Dead Can Dance.  I listen to them every night over a lovely bowl of weed.  I've tripped to them twice now, and my god, everytime is spectacular.  I'm hoping to get the Spiritchaser album next.
