 Ergot poisoning in Medieval Times

I've been looking and finding little things here and there through google but does someone offhand know a particularly definitive source for information regarding Ergotism in medieval times? I'm taking a class in Arthurian Legend and have to do an oral report on medieval medecines and I thought it might be fun to focus on that.

i've done some stoned thinking about it, with absolutely no scientific credibility behind it - but lsd was originally extracted from some ergot derivative, yeah? so might this account for medieval accounts of hexes/possessions/etc - folks getting tripped out on moldy bread?

I heard it might also be related to the Salem Witch Trials.

I don't think there is any definitive proof. I always thought that would be a great research project for an aspiring organic chemist. Build a grain silo like would have been used in medieval times. Then adjust the climate in the silo to mimic their conditions. Extract grain as often as they would have and test for possible hallucinogenic compounds.

in some biology book it breifly said that the great awakening was sparked from an outbreak of ergot.
