Jerry Springer vs. Dr. Phil

Have I lost respect admitting that I have watched either of these bozos?
I commented to a friend that Springer was the more "honest" of these two in that at least he admits to being a carnival freak show barker; whereas Dr. Phil pretends he is doing serious 10 minute psychoanalysis. Dr. Phil uses music and camera angles and editing to hype up the confrontations and increase the titillation factor.

Both are the same thing. They peddle the lowest common denominator in humanity for cash.

You could have a show where you invite people like Dr. Phil and Jerry Springer on your show and exploit their exploitation by telling them how they should be ashamed of themselves.
PS: I demand royalties for coming up with this idea.
PPS: Throw a little mud wrestling in there for good measure.

What gets me is Doctor Phil is selling a diet. He's a porky bastard himself...not exactly Arnold Schwarznegger there. His whole income is based on obvious rip-offs.

I think a few episodes of Jerry Springer is a much better insight into human nature than years of meditation and reading could ever be.

At least Dr. Phil (in my understanding) provides counseling sessions to the people he has on his show.
But I do prefer Springer. At least, before going to bed. It's mind-numbing comedy. There's nothing to think about. It's all white trailer-trash America. Woohoo!

No Swami. If anything my respect has grown to new depths. Once again you lead the way, a bright and shining flame, a beacon to the unenlightened souls floundering in ignorance at the Shroomerys S&P

That's why I think Saddam Hussein was way more honest and down-to-earth than George W. Bush ever has been. At least Saddam didn't try to pretend he came to the head of his nation by any due process, or by the will of his people. Saddam Hussein at least had the backbone to admit to himself and to the world that he was an autocratic dictator. George W. Bush, on the other hand, has to veil the fact with rigged elections, the fear-inspired robbery of constitutional liberties, and a whole lot of transparent political rhetoric to increase the titilation factor.

Ped, I don't think Saddam was more down to earth and honest. He is a madman in my opinion. He didn't have to play politics like you do in a country like this. He was pretty much in control.
I won't defend our govt either.
It's a dirty business all around IMO.
