Taken from theforestfloor.org ~ Test done to determine level of contams in different water sources. ~ Water tested : Tap water, Boiled Tap water, boiled rain water, bottled spring water ~ These were exposed to tryptic soy agar, and incubated at 28?C for 4 days. Boiled samples were brought to a full boil and immediately remove from heat. ~ Results ordered by number of differing contams present. ~Best to worst: .Boiled rain water, - 0 contams .Spring water (bottled) - 0 contams .Boiled tap water - 1 contam .Tap water - 5 different contams (*nasty* looking) ~Conclusions - it's obvious that tap water sucks, my city is 200k people, with chlorinated, UV and filtration. I guess these organisms are slightly resistant to disinfectants and thrive on the muck lining of the city pipes. Their resistance might explain why boiled tap water took second place ahead of unboiled spring water. Hope you find this interesting. If you want to see more tests, (like air purity) - let me know in this thread. WitchiePoo

That's funny Phrozendata...and interesting! When i first endeavored to grow mushies, I got all zealous and raced to get some "natural water" in the form of swamp water. I used it and it worked just fine! Have not used it since......spring water in the 1 gallon jugs works great for all applications...
