Is there any way to know if a casing is contaminated underneath besides lifting it up?

Thanks - AS.

How can I tell if it is safe to consume my shrooms without disrupting subsequent flushes though?

If you don't smell anything when you harvest (or see anything), Then you should be fine

btw, Why are you so worried about your casing being contaminated?

The exact reason when I grew I used clear containers.

Well, to keep out light I painted the bottom 4 inches of my aquarium. I guess I could scratch off the paint to check for contaminants and then use tin foil from now on. That seems like a waste of all the effort I put into painting it though.

If your shrooms look healthy, eat em. If there is a harmful underlying contam, they will not grow healthily.

I would definitely have to say smell is the best way, I can tell as soon as I open my fruiting chamber.

What if there is a small enough contamination area that it does not affect growth but still has deadly neurotoxins, or is this an oxymoron.
