mushrooms grown in a vacume?
    #4210735 - 05/23/05 05:44 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I was wondering if anyone knows if mushrooms could grow in a complete vacume enviroment. Like outerspace or a large vacume. Not using vacume bags or anything.

Gee...what a wonderfully agressive and closed minded and un-provocated thing to say....how helpful. I was simply wondering if the possibiliy of mushrooms actually coming from outside earth could even be concievable hypothetically or not. Many mush fans discuss there spiritual and phylosophical immplications and that is one theory. I also wonder if at least the spores would survive the vacume on the way to earth. I was just curious and since it is a cultivation question I placed it here. I'm honestly amazed that somone with as many shrooms as tahoe can be so closed minded, nedlessly aggresive and rude.

I think the outer space thing is a McKenna concoction, and personally don't think it's anything more than that.

Could spores survive a vacuum? Sure. But re-entry into the atmosphere? No way. And then there are people who will argue they could survive the heat of re-entry if embedded in a meteor, yadda yadda yadda.

Very silly theory if you ask me, but that's my .02 on the whole thing.

hardly relevant to cultivation, but...  <disclaimer)
i wonder how fruits would form under zero G?
you ought to be able to provide all of the other necessary elements aside from gravity.

don't they culture other molds and crystals in space?

I'm not kidding anyone thank you very much. Its people asking questions that got us all that we have today. And the way you rebut with nothing more than another pathetic insult only proves to me what kind of an individual you are. Who are you to insult people? Making up for something hmmm?

my thoughts on the whole zero-g's i think they would still grow to the light but with weird stem and cap formations.

I think the main formative difference using 0 G woudl probably be the caps....since they are designed to drop their spores downwards (in line with gravity) and not up. But then again....maybe it would just look the same...if many generations were bred in o G however....maybe different traits would start to immerge.
