I have found about 3-4 different species of Ganoderma around Central Fla.Brevard county to be exact.

Some Curtisi,Lucidium, tsuga(sp?)and one that is blamed for the rot of some Palm trees.
Mostly Curtisi though.

Wow, that's really cool.

Actually they are growing on the root structure of the tree.. You can feel the roots when you walk the area and are protruding just under sand and  grass giving the impression of growing in open grass..  :smirk:

Well I assumed they were growing off some type of wood, but it is still very cool!!  I've only found them on stumps and downed trees, I've never seen pics of them growing from the ground except in cultivation, I just thought it was cool to see it naturally occuring like that.

Ganoderma zonatum

It is very common down here in south florida. It is on ALOT of the Everglades palms transplanted into landscape beds.

Are those still considered "Reishi"(Ling-chi) or are they totally different? Maybe some where in between?
