Refridgerator bad!? -- urgent
    #421014 - 10/10/01 06:17 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

My wookie took some advice, and stored a few (about 10 wet grams total) of shrooms in his fridge in a very small paper bag to store until Friday (the harvest party). Problem is the one he dropped in yesterday is having an EXTREME bluing reaction and lost alot of weight... is this normal, and should he be worried?

Thanks.

Cappin' this off hoping to get a response, it's a rather urgent problem. If the little guys aren't going to survive until Friday I may just have to make my wookie eat them tonight... <evil grin>.

Eat heroin instead
it makes you feel floaty
or give it to young children and watch them giggle

just kidding
heh

Is the bluing due to oxidation and the weight loss to simple dehydration?

Thanks.

yeah they should be fine. as long as they dontstart growing shit on them or smelling like mold its exactly what you think it is, water loss and bluing. i wouldnt recommend storing fresh/wet shrooms for more than 1 or 2 days even refrigerated. justdry them. if you really dont feel like doing that, my next guess would be to freeze them but thats prolly not the best idea either.

i would just eat em if i were you :) i like to eat mine as soon as i pick them. i could be wrong but i think they lose potency through drying. taste goooood fresh besides > : P

They don't lose hardly any potency thru drying. Keeing them in a fridge for a few days is cool too. The bluing is quite normal.

Freezing is bad news. Well its the thawing part actually. They turn into a goup. You can freeze dried shrooms tho.
