FL lawn shrooms ID
    #4208535 - 05/23/05 01:10 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I've tried looking through some guides and am having trouble ID'ing these mushrooms, can anybody help? I found them in my lawn on the west coast of Florida. Let me know what you think. Thanks

No problem man. I thought that's all you were going to post. Sorry if I came off as a jerk...I'm not in the best of moods tonight.

About the mushrooms...I have no idea. I don't ID mushrooms.

Welcome to the Shroomery by the way!!

Yeah, I found those in the lawns in my neighborhood also.

I thought cube by the color but realized they were not later.

Cool mushrooms anyways.

No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

kuplicks22, your mushrooms look close to Conocybe lactea, a very common lawn mushroom. Unfortunately, accurate identification of any Conocybe to species requires a microscope.

mycophyle, you really should have started your own thread for an ID.

Your mushrooms are Leucocoprinus birnbaumii, which commonly occurs in flowerpots. They are mildly poisonous.

Happy mushrooming!

those are popping up all over tampa FL. They grow in the same patches that the supposed casters grow in. The casters are the ones you want. They are meatier, more robust and look quite different. Those conocybes you have there pop up by the hundreds everyday outside my apt.
