Please explain to me the objection to cloning. Without resort to some magical best friend that you think may object. That would also include any "if man were meant to fly...." type nonsense. I eagerly await a rational debate.

I wonder the same thing. If God had such a problem with cloning, wouldn't the almighty do something about it?

What's wrong with the progression of science? I don't see any moral objection to stem cells and cloning, especially if it helps increase the quality of and save lives.

If God had a problem with cloning, there would be no identical twins.

I support this research 100%.

It's instances like this that almost make me wish I had put a little support behind Kerry.

I don't understand why everyone is getting their panties in a wad over a bunch of 5 day old cells, that could help cure diseases and deformities.

Virtually every religious scripture says that the soul doesn't enter the body until you breathe your first breath.

All this controversy over embryonic stem cells is just the "Christian's" way of trying to legislate their set of morals.

No no no. That is too easy. What objection, without resort to imaginary best friends and texts of dubious origin, can anyone produce against even reproductive cloning?

Me too. There's the potential here for some real medical beak-throughs, such as tailor-made organ replacement, a cure for many congenital diseases, etc. (the list is pretty long if you think about it). I find those who object to this research incredibly myopic...

The arguments against human cloning, while still weak in my opinion, are much more validated than human stem cell objections.

With human cloning, if you had a copy of yourself, with the same genetic code and presumably the same biological features and fingerprints, then it could cause confusion in crime cases or be used to deceive people by creating lookalikes of you. Then there's the "What if..." situations of people breeding the best of all humans athletically and mentally to create a sort of perfect army.

After all, in biological breeding, if you have two super intelligent parents who have a kid, while that kid will be above average statistically he'll be more towards the mean than his parents. But if you cloned super intelligent people, they wouldn't regress towards the mean genetically, and it could be argued this could create problems.

I think the biggest reason people object to it, other than pseudoscientific and religious arguments, is that it reminds them of eugenics in Nazi Germany and other unpleasant instances. They think it's violating nature and could be easily abused by power-hungry individuals, noticeably totalitarian governments and mad people who want to take over the world. But I repeat myself...

I wholeheartedly support cloning and all other scientific advancements, but there are legitimate concerns people have about it.

I think cloning should be allowed for duplicating fertilized eggs for those who can't reproduce anymore due to problems with their reproductive system.

Why is it that people want to live long happy lives?

Because they have been taught their entire life to fear death.

It's not a fear of death but a love of life.
