What's the deal with Starbucks?

Now I have a problem with alot of stuff, but I've never comprehended why many people (esp. in the counter-culture) have such a problem with Starbucks. Besides the obvious, (which is the fact that it's a corporate chain) why do people hate it so?
Now, Starbucks haters! This is your opportunity to tell me exactly why I shouldn't give this business my patronage.
And do it quick and simple, because I am itching for a coffee fix.

They put too much ice into their ice coffees. You don't even get a buzz.
There is a Kiva Han a couple blocks from me, and a Starbucks moved in across the street. Kiva Han houses all the extreme liberal hippie crowd, whereas the Starbucks always has the well-dressed older crowd. When starbucks opened someone threw a brick through the window. Crazy liberals.

What's funny is that Kiva Han is a chain coffee shop too. They have 60 year old men sitting in a board room just like starbucks, except they choose to serve, "veggie hummus" and have their decor a drab brown with "alternative" music concert pamphlets on their cream table. I mean... geeez.

Don't try to rationalize what left-wing extremists do. There's no method to their madness.

It's too damn expensive.
I buy premium coffee, grind it myself, and enjoy thick, dark, caffeine rich wake up juice for about 28 cents a cup. Including electricity (for a turkish coffee maker)
Nobody goes to starbucks for the coffee. Unless your homeless and can't make coffee at home, the only reason to go to starbucks is for some sort of social experience.

Oh yeah,
Hey, are you an American? Or been to America? I've heard that in America things like Mountain Dew and other sodas are laced with some serious caffeine.
I remember a commercial I saw on an American TV channel showing guys jumping out of aiplanes screaming "DO THE DEW!" Their hair was all spiked out like you'd get from static electricity...
Is it true?
Sometimes I wish I could get a buzz of soda...

no, you're extremely wrong. I go to starbucks purely for the coffee ( and sometimes i try a tea or a tasty noncoffee drink, or pastry or something ). If you're on the move, you can't make coffee. If you live in a dorm, you can't make coffee. I need my coffee to be good, and Starbucks fulfills that need.

Yeah I live in America... theDew doesn't really do much for me, in comparison to coffee.
Don't believe (or watch..) commercials!

Yeah, it's convienient.
Gee whiz bro, when I lived in a dorm we had minimal kitchens, toaster, sink, microwave, COFFEE MAKER, once even a stove!
In any case, I feel like such a sucker paying for anything at a place like Starbucks...I'd grab pastries from the grocery store and find a coffee maker for 3$ at the thrift store...
I wish I could open a store were people pay me 20-30 times more for something than it cost me to buy it...

yeah, but my room was small, no kitchen. yes, NO KITCHEN. AAAH.
And I don't drink instant coffee. I had a small coffee maker, but it was waaaay too much of a pain in the ass. I wouldn't be able to afford starbucks but my dining plan, useable at starbucks, had a 1,000 dollar error in my favor
Overpriced? Sure. Tasy? Definately. Very often, I'm not willing to put a lot of effort into making coffee when I can have it done well and just how I like it in about a minute or two.

I have a coffee maker but no grinder. I think I will invest in one. Folgers sucks and makes me vomit but its only like 2 bucks for 10 gallons. Dunkin' donuts coffee is good but very expensive and i'm running out of my 1lb bag. I need to know how to make GOOD coffee for CHEAP. I am a coffee noob so help me out. Sometimes I can't take the thought of folgers and go to starbucks but that has got to stop, it is ridiculously expensive.
I also want to make iced coffee, but I need to get an ice tray and that is hardwork. Where do you find ice-trays? its a thing of the past. A relic not seen by the modern human.

No, I mean dunkin donuts coffee in the bag thing. There isn't a dunkin donuts close to me. I have a coffee maker, but I make shitty coffee and sometimes i cant stand it so I get myself a proper cup.

Yeah man.. they lace sodas with extreme amounts of caffeine in america.. especially mountain dew, it has the most of any soda. Not to mention the massive amounts of sugar in soda. I've known a few dew fiends.
Man, caffiene is some addictive shit. I worked at starbucks during high school, for like 6 months. In the morning when I came in they would give me three shots of espresso over ice with some vanilla syrup added.. and I would take it like a shot. Halfway through the morning I would need another one, and usually would be sipping a lattes and machiattos throughout the day. I got hooked. But somehow got away.
Caffiene weakens the heart.

Read up. Personally, I don't care because I don't drink coffee, I'm just answering your question as to why the liberals hate Starbucks.
