Found these in the NE growing out of treebark of a live tree. Any help identifying the species would be appreciated.

i have seen many mushrooms that look like that in the cow pastures, especially in the morning. coprinus, as far as specific species i dunno.

then again i could be wrong, although i do know they are not active.

Definitely coprinus, possibly c. micaceus. Nice find, but of no practical value: inactive and inedible.
