I went out hunting today. Beautiful day for it. I don't think I found anything active, but I still had fun.
This mushroom I am certain is not active, and I'm guessing is an aminita.
cap: gold, smooth about 3 1/2 in. diameter
stem: kind of an off white, stringy, solid about 3 in. long
gills: white (screaming don't eat me, I may kill you)
spore: still waiting on this, will post as soon as it comes, if needed.
bruising: none.
habitat: I found about a dozen of these, growing alone scattered among about 2,000 sq. feet of wood chips.

Here is the second type of mushroom I found today.
Cap: Very light tan. about 1 in. diameter.
stem: white, hollow, thin (maybe 1 1/2 cm.) about 2 in. long.
gills: black
spore print: still waiting will post when it comes out.
bruising: none
habitat: found tons of these growing on a river bank. in grass. in groups.

A side view is nice, but the most important photo would be the underside of the cap, showing the gills and any partial veil or remnants. Also important for identification is the base of the stem, which needs to be dug up to make sure you get the entire thing.

Without a better view of the first one we can only wildly guess. "Brown" isn't very descriptive of the color of the spore print. Compare the brown to common things. Is it like cinnamon? Tobacco? Various crayon colors? A very wild guess would be Agrocybe.

The second one is probably a Coprinus similar to Coprinus micaceus. Without a definite ID (which requires more info) they should not be eaten.

Happy mushrooming!

the big mushroom has been thrown out now. the gills were crowded, and not attatched to the stem. spore print was, about the same color as the darker spot on the top left of the second picture. Oh well, you live and you learn. next time i'll take more pictures. Thanx toxicman
