 Gettin ready to take the Poo Plunge!

I gotta go for da bulk so it seems the Poo is where it's at. Few questions I have are:
I haven't read much on contaminations and poo. Does it contam easily? Do I need to take any extra precuations?
Secondly, what is the best poo that I can buy locally and where do I buy it? I have access to most existing chain stores, and a few garden centers.
Third, does there exist an oven pasturization tek? I'm not too thrilled with Roadkill's tek, it looks awful messy, and I don't have an extra pillowcase or a candy thermometer.
Thats it for now, i will think of some more q's soon.

-candy thermometer is 3 dollars at a grocery store
-roadkills tek is relatively clean
-you have to hydrate the poo anyway, so it makes sense to do it while you pasteurize
-my understanding is that poo doesn't contam very easily. i sure didn't have any problems at all, and my apartment is dusty as fuck (and has had mildew problems)
-you can go get a pillowcase at a thrift store for very cheap

It definitely does not contam easily, if you have quality poo.
But it not only depends on the poo/compost, but also on the conditions of your living quarters and/or area of residence.
I've personaly done some "stress testing" of Tennesse Stud compost at my home, and, so far, it's shown itself to be neigh uncontaminable. Regardless though, I still pastuerize - but not everyone feels the need.

I don't know locally, but I've seen around that chain stores and garden centers are more often than not the wrong place to get your compost. Order from a sponsor, or find a stable or ranch.

Here's one that I've used and like.
Also, one from agar - but it requires a therm.
What I've been doing recently is the following:
* Place an amount of poo/compost into a sufficiently large, ovenable pan/jar(s)/whatever.
* Preheat oven to 170.
* Boil an amount of water.
* Let water cool for a few minutes, then poor into pan/jar(s)/whatever that's holding the poo/compost.
* Place into oven.
* Bake at 170 for an hour or two.
* Turn off oven, let cool, strain.
This works well with jars when using relatively small amounts of bulk substrate - use the cooler tek for larger amounts.

don't worry about putting a layer on top.
you want to mix the spawn up as well as you can.
poo is very resistant to contaminants, and so is 100% colonized spawn.
everyone told me to do this (i even heard "agar said so")
then when i did, this is what agar had to say.
