Slight problem, maybe.

I'm growing two kits at the moment, I stupidly forgot to put any foil around one of them and so one big mushroom has grown from the side of the kit and stretched the plastic of the container out.

I twisted it as low down as I could, but the bottom of the stem goes deeply down to almost the bottom of the kit, I've got some tweezers, so I was thinking of using those to pluck the remnants of the stem away.

Is this the right thing to do?
It's a stupid thing to ask, but this is the first time I have grown and I'm happy but nervous with my first crop growing.
