Couple of questions: dogs and fingerprints
    #4197514 - 05/19/05 09:16 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

Just a couple of hypotheticals here,

1. If drugs were dropped inside a police car would a dog caged in the back be likely to freak out about it, or will they only indicate if prompted first?

2. How easy is it to get fingerprints off a crumpled sandwich bag?

Thanks.

Typically, drug dogs only search out drugs when the handler is directing them. However, with most police departments, it is standard practice to search the back seat area for contraband after transporting a prisoner. As far as the finger print goes, pretty easy if they care... though getting a print and getting a usable print are two very different things.

Thanks, Seuss. Wonder if they'd be less likely to check if it were more of a routine traffic stop turned vehicle search, as opposed to transporting someone they'd arrested? Say, if it was dropped in the cops' front seat area during the few seconds both of them were distracted.
