Do you believe that what you believe is real?
    #4197730 - 05/20/05 12:25 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Everyone has beliefs... not necessarily spiritual or religious ones, but we all have certain beliefs ingrained into our consciousness.

An example would be that you believe you are sitting wherever you are, typing into a computer, existing as the person you believe yourself to be... right?

Do you ever wonder if it's all not what it seems to be?

Do you believe that changing your beliefs can alter your reality?

Do you believe in an objective reality?

I believe in an objective reality.. and billions.. no.. gazillions of subjective realities.. all existing simultaneously and interconnectively.. weaving in and out of each other.. an endless spiral of creation and destruction and existance in altering dimensions of space and time.. constantly experiencing existance and reality.. all connected to the objective reality in the end. Everything is valid. But certainly there are illusions.

Belief = closed mind

I lean towards things and entertain beliefs but in general beleifs separate us and allow us to be manipulated

Well, there are things that we never see right before our very eyes, but they have dealings with us in a very direct way that we never really notice. Makes you wonder what these things are, huh? Anyway, enough rambling. :sun:

Have you ever read the book: The World Is As You Dream It ~ Shamanic Teachings from the Amazon and Andes by John Perkins??

I think you'd really appreciate it man. It deals a lot with the subject at hand.

Jiddu Krishnamurti and David Bohm, a rewnowned Physicist, created an awesome book called "The Ending of Time", which I posted ONE first chapter from, in the S&P called "The Origins of Psychological Conflict".

Krisnamurti advocated "zero beliefs", and simple, clear and unbiased adherency to the "facticity" [Abraham Maslow] of the situation, or matter-at-hand. No beliefs are necessary!

There is a general consensus among some quantum-physics experts that reality requires a subjective experience of it in order for it to exist. How we perceive our reality, is apparently broken up into different dimensions, and they have found that when atoms move, that they are often at two different places at the same time. I didn't quite understand it, but there is a theory that how we perceive the atoms changes it somehow.

My doctor told me this and recommended the movie ?What the Bleep Do We Know??, which explains it, and much better than I could.

It?s interesting because it?s how I?ve perceived reality ? to a certain degree ? at least the idea of no objective reality per say, because the way we perceive things isn?t literally true, but just a concept of what we?re experiencing.

That isn?t to say that there aren?t ways to test for accuracy, but rather that there is an unpredictable aspect to it. As such, science is only a concept for us to use to understand the various reactions throughout our reality. Not that I?m bad mouthing science, rather the opposite. I find it amazing that humans are able to devise such a method. It?s just not necessarily that there is an *objective reality* in which there is a 100% guaranteed results.

Now I?m not necessarily saying this is what is, but this is what makes most sense to me at this time.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.
