poo colonization slow...incu temp 76degrees....raise it?
    #4196630 - 05/19/05 04:43 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

hi. i spawned 6 cakes to 5lbs poo split between 2 containers 1 week ago. i know i should have used a little more but its all i had for spawn. i first had the containers in a tit with the heater at 84 degrees. but then i checked the temps in the containers and it read 90 degrees. so i was reading here and saw some people just incubate poo at room temp. so i decided to do that, just leave them in a container at room temp. the temps in container has been more around 76 degrees and i see colonization is going slow. i know its probably a combination of low temps and little spawn. should i wait it out or try the tit again at maybe a lower temp? i expected more colonization after a week. i think if i lucky it may take 2 and a half more weeks.

This is likely a result of the poo having to high water content..under optimal conditions the poo should colonize within 10days.

If the poo isn't fully colonized within 2wks it will probably never reach full colonization. But i would just leave it at room temperature and see what happens.

its tenn stud poo so i assume the water content is good. but i must say that there is alot of precipitation inside on the sides. lots of little beads of water on the sides. they are clear containers and its hard to see much inside where the substrate isnt. is that normal?
