A few nights ago, I decided to take a little taste test of my b+, and check out my new laser light show I picked up in the Halloween aisle at Walmart. I checked my fruiting babies right before I dosed, and everyone looked happy. The visuals kept up for a good 5 hours, and I had the laser light running the whole time (on my ceiling fan, room full of mirrors, VERY kewl). Well, when I came down, no more than 6 hours after my last visit, I checked on my kids again. They were HUGE!! I had a LOT of new pins, a TON of growth, much more than I've experienced to date in the same amount of time. Hell, this was more than I've seen in any other 24 hour period!! Still feeling a little stupid (not QUITE straight yet), I thought "holy shit, it was all those colors!" Duh....I was the only one tripping and seeing all the colors, right? So I put it out of my mind. However, it just occurred to me that maybe they like the RED light. Is this possible?
Because if it is, I need to stock up on C size batteries and learn to sleep with that baby running all night, EVERY night!!!
Anybody know if the light could have had an affect?

Okay, if nobody knows....I guess I'll run my light show all night tonight and see if it makes my babies happy again. Guess it's the only way I'll find out, huh?

I have no idea if different colored lights affect shroom growth. Try it out and post it up! I'm thinkin about putting a flourescent black light on mine and see what that does.

AFAIK they respond best to light from the bluer end of the spectrum.

dude, they call them hallucinogens for a reason. just kidding. very unlikely that the light did it. maybe because you harvested some of them from the substrate, which has been known to stimulate growth

Okay, I ran the light again last night for 5 hours and......nada. So....how about the music? I have a pretty good system hooked to my computer, and I had that sound system playing the whole time I was tripping. Not just playing, but PLAYING! Loud, very loud, the whole time. Maybe they just loved Alicia Keyes? They say plants want to be talked to, maybe mushies like to be sang to!
I can't experiment with the theory until the weekend, or my kids will kill me. But, you can bet I'll be checking the possibility out asap.
Also, the mushies that were growing were from different cakes than my harvest. I had actually harvested days before, dried, ground up, etc.... The growth I saw was unlike anything else I've seen. I'm talking about 3 inches of growth on some of those babies (off cakes!) in less than 6 hours. Also a huge jump in quantity during the same time. Not just one cake, but every fruiting cake, in 2 different terrariums. Some of the smaller fruits tripled in size. They sure as hell didn't do that last night.....
