Houston Hunt (pics)
    #4193396 - 05/18/05 10:59 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

So i just got back from a hunt with a friend and i can easly say im pretty dissapointed. Last time i was at this field it was swamped with the cubes. All i found were pins(of what im almost 100% sure are p. cubensis) they bruise dark blue and even smell like the lil boogers. Here are some pics of some random mushies i saw tonight. The little tiny one by the dime is the cubensis, there are tons of them every where and have been there for about a week now, i dont get why they have not grown because we got some nice rain a few days ago and its been pretty hot n steamy... im confused but it is still early season.

We need more details to make an ID. I've got a few guesses on the Genera of the mushrooms you picked, but I'm going to withhold it until proper details are prodided.
Nothing you picked is active, though.

that mush by the dime is def not a cube (notice how the stem is clear and viscid unlike that of a cube), sorry- We need more details such as spore print, etc.. like Gumby said

Sorry my internet has been down for a few days... the reason i thought the one by the dime was a cube was because they were groing strait out of the cow patties.... and its almost impssible to get a print.

Bump ...several pan copes have been found due to our good rains lately
Cubes allways follow the pans and we had another wild electrical storm last night with a lot of rain.
If this trend continues we will be having a field of dreams type summer
once again

i dont think were allowed to name spots in the forum but just look for cow pastures with lots of shit...also i went out to my regular field yesterday and found what i think were pan copes? tall thick white stem with no viel, had greyish gills with a smooth round top no brown center.. NO CUBES YET.... are the pan copes active because there were quite a few bunches... Also some one mentioned cubes follow the copes... how so? PEace out

I don't see shit inspectors coming around to all the fields to check for fungicide.. I think I saw a post by MJ once saying that people don't that (i may be wrong but it's what i remember).

I heard that there's a law in Houston that says that all cow owners (or farm owners?) must spray their fields with some kind of fungicide or pesticide or something. Is there any actual law that says anything like that at all?

Laws yes they spray ...spray spells moon

No they are good for eating or tirpping. Go out looking for a specific mushroom when hunting, bring it back here with a proper identification and we can tell you all about it.
