    #4195205 - 05/19/05 01:54 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

So i am going to try my first h/poo. I have 2 questions. How many quart jars of WBS should be spawned to 10 pounds of tenn stud? When i case it do i have to break it up or just put the caseing material on top of it?

You've got some reading to do.

1) The more spawn the better. Someone told me that 4 quarts of spawn is good for 5 LBS of poo. Someone else might be able to clarify this better.

2) Don't break it up. You case after the substrate is 100% colonized, and put your pre sterilized casing mix on top, then wait... then fruit.

2 to 2 1/2 quarts would more than do the job for 5 lbs of manure. If you are going to be doing 10 lbs, 4 would probably do nicely. Unless you have a ton of jars to work with, use them conservatively.

i agree augustin, i use about 2 quarts per 5 lbs and that seems to work fine, colonizing 3 inches in a little over a week. however the more you use the faster it will go. also if youre talking about the birdseed you need to make sure to break it up very well, otherwise you will have shrooms actually produced by the birdseed amongst those produced by poo ending up with an uneven pin set and different sized shrooms

When you change the way you see things, the things you see change.
