My Ecuadorian experience with horse manure.

Well let me first say that I just harvested my first grow with Ecuadorian, spawned to horse manure. My first flush yielded 2 1/2 dry ounces so I was pretty happy with that.
Let me qualify what I am about to say by telling you that I'm pretty savvy when it comes to tripping. I know, or at least I thought I knew, what good mushrooms were. My first experience with my own cultivating was with straight cased B+ BRF cakes. I was not impressed with the quality and frankly had lost hope that I would experience the trip that everyone was talking about on the boards.
I started the night by taking 4 grams of powdered EQ using the tea method. I boiled some water, put the powder in, poured into a coffee mug with tea bags using a strainer, and went to work. Within 15 minutes I could feel it coming on pretty good and felt a sigh of relief. I knew I wanted to experiment a little so I planned on taking another dose within the next hour.
After about an hour or so, I cooked up another batch using another 4 grams. I sat down and started to watch Team America, which by the way is an awesome movie to trip on. I could feel the peak coming on within 15 minutes of drinking the tea and it hit me hard!
I first started to notice that I had trouble keeping my head up. I had to rest it on a pillow or sit back. I then noticed that everything was extremely distorted and the euphoria set in pretty strongly. The feelings I was having was like nothing I've ever experienced. I would say that I had a level 4-5 trip. I was in pure heaven. Once again, a feeling of relief set in as I realized that I can now cultivate the mushrooms that I had so longed for.
I see a lot of threads on this board on potency and I can now tell you, without hesitation, that cultivating with horse manure solves the concerns surrounding this issue.
The point of this thread is to tell others not to be afraid to experiment with bulk cultivation. I have only grown 2 strains in my entire life. I read up on the boards and dove in head first. Because I took the time to read and post on this board, I have a new respect for this hobby.
I am a newbie to this hobby, so let me say something to all the other newbies out there, don't waste time cultivating cakes. Start with WBS, spawn to horse manure/straw/compost, and case everything. I went the PF Tek way when I first started because I didn't know any better. When I discovered that there are better methods out there, I went for it and you should too.
I learned a lot in the last 2 months, but no lesson more important than this; You have to do what works best for you. I have probably spent more than $400.00 in materials trying my hand at everything from a Martha closet, to TiT, to Double Tubs. I probably own more plastic containers than any normal person could accumulate in a lifetime.
Just because something looks high tek and seems effort less, doesn't mean that it's the best method. I am now using the Double Tub tek exclusively, as with my EQ grow, and the results are astounding. I tried my hand at the Martha that everyone talks about and I realized that it was a complete waste of time and money for me. Again, my point that you have to do what works for you.
Well let me step down off of my soapbox and close with this statement; Thank all of you for helping me on all of my questions.
I just hope that I can give back to the community as well.

Great, I'm happy it worked out so well for you. I'm currently in the process of doing a similar grow with rye to straw/cow manure with Ecuadorians. Good to know its gonna be some potent stuff!
By the way, how much spawn and substrate did you use to achieve that yield?

I used 2 1/2 quarts of WBS to 4-5 lbs of horse manure. The container used is approximately W 6" X D 12" X L 18". With the Double Tub Tek, I have 24 inches of headroom for growth.

The inspiration that just filled me... made me go fan my B+ done via Roadkill Meathod ^^^^^^^^^^^ mist em' and check my own B+ Double Tub setup. It's almost colonized!!!!!!
Aug.. how long did it take your DT from spawn===>fruit? VERY impressive.... 5 'rooms for you.

The total amount of time from spawn to fruit using this method was 16 days. Once the pins started, about day 12, everything took off from there. I think I only had 4 days of growing before I harvested.
This data is inaccurate though, as I only started the Double Tub tek after my spawn had fully colonized. I didn't know about it before then. I do have another one going though from scratch and she's been going for 7 days now. Pinning is about to start any day now.
