Using what you hate to find out what you are
    #4193937 - 05/19/05 03:29 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

So, we all hate stuff right. We all have some stuff we have immediate hate reactions too.

Lately, I've noticed that every time I have a reaction "I hate X" a thought pops up in my head "You hate X, because X is based in Y, and you hate the Y part of yourself."

Give it a serious try. Next time you notice that reaction, try to find what you hate about yourself that is refelcted in the thing that caused the reaction.

chains of connections are interesting, but creating a thread of related things using just the commonality of hate is too general an approach.
hate or aversion is just the opposite of love or attraction, it gives up little about the shape or nature of the thing, and at best only one side of the overall shape like half a magnet. it becomes a one sided search.

"You hate X, because X is based in Y, and you hate the Y part of yourself."

What about: "You hate X, because you hate the X part of yourself." (?)

If you get angry, its not because some thing annoys you...

...its because you allow yourself to fall for satans little tricks.

Well, applying the logic of this thread... you hate negativity because you deny the negative aspects of yourself.

Through realization and acception of one's own negative aspects, (such as a tendency to hate anything) these last subjects of hating can be let go. And through that, hate is released entirely.

Hate nothing. It's self-contradictory to declare hatred for negativity, because hate IS negativity. By hating anything, you contribute to negativity. Through hate, you contribute to that which you hate.

(my 2 cents)

I hate negativity reminds me of a line from Austin Powers:

I agree with you, and I would expand upon your Post Title...

"Using What You Hate to Find Out What You Are Pretending Not to Be."

Whenever we refuse to accept something about ourselves, we shove it out of our conscious awareness, and into the shadows.

When we see someone else expressing what we have denied, it triggers fear and hatred.

We fear being discovered for the phonies that we have become, and we hate the person who allows themself the freedom to show what we continue to hide.

I'm at a loss, there's nothing about myself that I hate. The closest I can come to hating something about myself is that I don't like the smell of my own turds, but I don't hate it. I don't even hate the smell of other people's turds (can't stand it though, but I still don't hate it).
