Bunk P. Torch "Hybrid"?

Hey all, My friend has a largeish quantity of some dried peruvian torch "hybrid" (I assume this is San Pedro/Torch Hybrid) that he got from www.ethnogarden.com . The site no longer offers the stuff, but they claimed that it had alkaloidal content close to that of L. Williamsii (Yeah I know, peruvians arent that strong). Well, after making several attempts at extracting and consuming this stuff, it's starting to look like it may not be active at all. People have ingested 25-50g with no effect, and no "snowing" out of alkaloids occured after adding conc. h2so4 to recover the salts from xylene. Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this material? We will probably contact the vendor if we cant get results from it after another couple experiments.

Did you add a base to bind the mescaline to salts. reread ur set of instruction and or post them so we know what you are doing. I cant alone tell what the problem is. I feel maybe you just left out a step or did a step wrong.

I wouldn't contact the vendor unless where u live it is legal to extract mescaline or eat the cactus. What do u say yes I ate the cactus and I didn't trip and they'll go well im sorry but the consumption of our product is illegal and we can't help you.

Here's the steps we took to extract - 1 - Extract the cactus into water (slightly acidified) by boiling, filter and discard plant material. 2 - Basify with lye. Add Xylene as organic solvent. Shake / let seperate. 3 - Remove Xylene layer, acidify with conc. h2so4 (No alkaloids "snowing out" here as you would expect). 4 - Since no alkaloids appeared, we continued to add dilute acid and shake to obtain an aqueous phase that we figured would contain the salts of whatever alkaloids were present. We seperated that and, and then evaporated it after neutralizing it with sodium bicarbonate solution. The crystals were bioassayed but seemed only to be the sodium salts of the final neutralization step.
Besides this extraction, the raw plant material has been consumed with seemingly no effect other than nausea.
GNIOM: Yes that poses something of an impass...the thing is the site is advertising a certain alkaloidal content of this cactus that it doesn't seem to have. Obviously they CAN say "well you weren't supposed to try and eat it/extract it" or whatever, but at the same time they KNOW that is what it is being used for, and (disclaimers aside) that is how they were marketing it. So I'm just hopeing they will be cool and understand. If they aren't, then...I would say let that be a warning for others not to deal with them.
Really I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with this stuff.
