I took 5 grams of amazonia the first time I tripped and I throught about nothing but comitting suicide. I was horrified continuously and I did not know if I was dead or alive.
It was fucking brilliant and I would recomend it to any first timer. Only problem is that falling ten storeys hurts, even if it is only in your mind.

Well then...maybe you wern't in the right mind-set to be tripping. Not to mention that 5 grams seems a little (if not A LOT) too intense for a first-time shroomer.

How could you contemplate killing yourself if you weren't sure whether you were alive or dead?
As long as you're not contemplating suicide on a regular basis while sober, you should probably just have a trip sitter around when you trip.

He probably wanted to kill himself to make sure. I was depressed about 7-8 years ago and I woke up one morning and was pullling my knuckleduster/knife combo out of my trouser pockets to slash my wrists before I knew what I was doing. All I could think was "I've got to wake up this is awful. I've got to wake myself up..."
I didn't do much damage as I realised what I was doing almost as soon as the blade touched my wrist, but it was enough of a warning for me to keep my trousers on the other side of the room at night.

can you buy bottles of niacinamide at any drug store, or vitamin supplement store?
It must be hard to trip if you anthropomorphize your shrooms.
We're all MADD here...

usually, yeah...
(try to avoid "niacin" 'cause it can cause "flushing" (feeling hot & itcy & looking red...)
niacinamide = nicotinamide = nicotinic acid amide = B3-amide...)
also, inositol hexanicotinate will work as a non-flushing trip toner, but it is considerably more expensive...

Says me, I've tried it. Plus, it's common for some people to take large doses of niacinamide about 1/2 hour after taking morning glory seeds. They still trip.
Any aborting of a trip when taking niacinamide is purely due to placebo.
Why do you think that hospitals administer antipsychotic drugs to really freaked out patients under the influence of psychedelic drugs? If they could simply administer niacinamide, they'd save a hell of a lot of money, plus wouldn't have to worry about the unpleasant side effects of antipsychotics.

i know that not everyone in the APA accepts dr hoffer's findings, but.... do you think his results treating schitzies with niacin therapy are BS as well?

and my contention is that if administered post-peak, niacinamide can temper the intensity of the trip, and allow one to "come down" quite a bit sooner than one would otherwise... for "most" trippers...
(and is probably safer, and certainly more "legal", than pulling out a handful of valium or thorazine...)

I've never read anything about this. Remember, that traditional psychotherapy and symbollic curing can be useful in treating schizophrenics. I'd want to know if niacinamide therapy was significantly more helpful in the treatment of schizophrenics than no treatment.

I'll admit that's possible, but it will not abort a trip.
And no, I'm not trying to scare people, I'm speaking from experience, and from MG seed reports I've recieved. It doesn't abort trips.
Honestly I think taking a big dose of niacinamide during a heavy trip would suck. Nothing like bad tripping to be overcome but a hot, burning, itching sensation all over your skin, plus to turn as red as a cherry. Sounds like a great way to end a trip.

niacin caues vasodilation resulting in the "flushing" effect...
niacinamide does not....
dr hoffer's work with mentally ill patients (esp. in saskatchewan) would seem to indicate that some people respond quite well to the "megavitamin therapy" -- he does not recommend throwing conventional treatment (ECT, phenothiazines, etc...) but does suggest that "talk therapy" patients seem to get well about as often as patients just left alone... but that patients taking a gram or so of niacinamide per day have shorter hospital stays and a better prognosis upon release...
he has written books on liivng with schizophrenia.. worth the read, i assure you...

whenever i shroom i always go through this phase when im tripping, i always get into this deep concentration deep contemplation...i always end up asking myself "why do i do drugs"...i dont know the real answer...

Drunkgoat: me too. I did a load on Saturday. Had a great time until about 4am when I went to bed and immediately started on that same train of though "Jesus, what AM I doing? I've got a lot of problems at work and what I am doing? - growing more drugs as usual. What is important in my life...etc etc"
I have to say I think it was quite useful cos I really do need to take a few aspects of my life a bit more seriously. This tends to happen to me if I take more than I need and take it as a party drug without ever really getting hold of it - by that I mean accepting the true effects of the drug as opposed to just getting high.
