Are these jars done colonizing?
    #4192168 - 05/18/05 07:33 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I have 2 cakes using the PF-Tek BRF method, that appear to be fully colonized except for a few specks. They have been this way for 5 days now with no noticeable growth. Is it possible for the myc to stop and then start growing again inside the jars? Should I birth them now? Any advice would be helpful.

Here is what one of the cakes looks like.

If that's the bottom it looks fine. If you could give us more pictures of these specks and the sides of the jars it would help out a lot

Here are some more pictures of the jar. Can't see it as well in the pics but it looks like a few specs of substrate are still exposed.

I think I should birth it too, but I knocked up these jars on May 1st.
It took 4 days for them to germinate, and the myc has been colonizing for about 2 weeks. I just want to be sure it is OK to take this out of the jar without a major contamination risk.

Thanks all who helped, the cakes were starting to look a little dry to me, this is my first grow so I have never seen a fully colonized cake clear and up close. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something stupid.

normal

the mycelium eats the brf and the cake shrinks a little during colonization.

good luck!~
